HARVEST SHOP FABRICATOR/MECHANIC LEVEL 2

TITLE:      HARVEST SHOP  FABRICATOR/MECHANIC            

LOCATION:             ARVIN, CA

COMPENSATION:  $21.00 - $28.00 / HOUR

PURPOSE:

Perform diagnostics and repairs in the areas of fabrication, hydraulics, engines. drivetrains, electrical, and misc. mechanical on company vehicles and various types of farm and harvesting equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:

• Must have the ability to perform p/m services as required
• Must be able to make repairs on diesel powered engines, electrical and hydraulic systems, and on a wide variety of misc. mechanical repairs
• Assist co-workers in the shop and in the field
• Always maintain a safe and clean workspace
• Must be able to perform job qualifications listed above
• Must follow directions from Supervisor / Manager
• Must be able to clearly fill out job inspection and completion forms to detail in English
• Support the shop 5S initiatives
• Must follow all required safety procedures and guidelines

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have or be able to acquire a Forklift Certification

• Must have 2 to 5 years’ experience working in an equipment repair shop environment (a certification obtained through a qualified trade school or college program will be acceptable)
• Must have mechanical aptitude and knowledge in the proper use of hand, pneumatic, welding and electric power tools, commonly used in a shop environment
• Must have some level of experience in the operation agricultural or harvest type equipment
• Must be able to repair and recharge air conditioning systems on various types of mobile equipment.
• Must have the ability to R&R drivetrain components (i.e., Differentials, planetaries, etc.)
• Must have the ability to R&R hydraulic system components (i.e., Pumps, motors, valves, hoses, etc.)
• Must have a clear understanding of 12V electrical systems
• Must have the basic knowledge of diesel powered engines
• Must have at least 2 years’ experience operating stick and mig. welding equipment
• Must have the ability to fabricate and assemble equipment using a combination of machinery and tools in the shop and field
• Must be able to make good decisions utilizing the guidance and training from others within the department
• Must have the ability to learn and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics
• Must have previous experience in performing all levels of PM service procedures
• Must have basic mathematical skills
• Know and follow prescribed company safety regulations and procedures
• Must be able to properly manage and maintain assigned tools to all company standards
• Must have a valid California driver’s license with a clean DMV driving record and have own transportation with acceptable insurance
• Must be able to effectively communicate in English - Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus
• Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen, physical and functional capacity evaluation

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to continuously work outdoors all day in various and sometimes extreme weather conditions. Ability to inspect equipment and product. Ability to continuously work with product and equipment at ground level. Ability to manipulate small parts. Ability to work on uneven terrain both on foot and while aboard moving equipment. Ability to get on and off various stationary and moving equipment. Must wear corrective lenses if required/listed on driver’s license. Must be able to work in a high noise area. Must be able to move items weighing up to 75 lbs.
