What You Will Need:

  • High School diploma or Associate degree, required.
  • Some background knowledge or experience of working in a lab, preferably microbiology lab, required.
  • Computer skills and ability to utilize standard Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), required.
  • Must have strong leadership, communication, and time management skills.
  • Must be able to distinguish differences in color, with or without accommodation.
  • Self-starter and ability to track and maintain project process independently.
  • Ability to maintain high quality standards with minimal supervision and to bring urgent matters to the attention to proper personnel for immediate resolution.
  • Ability to read and interpret procedures, safety information, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills and proactive work initiative to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
  • Ability to work daily overtime, required.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish, required.
  • Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen.

 

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:

Provide leadership to Micro Lab Techs to ensure that standard operating procedures are being followed. Oversee time clock edits and maintain lab inventory. Follow audit schedule and respond to daily changes. Arrange and document work schedules for technicians for effective and efficient work process flow. Responsible for documenting sampling process and input lab results. Maintain incoming sample paperwork. Transcription of written microbial results to appropriate spreadsheets. Generate certificates of analysis. Update weekly laboratory inventory spreadsheet. Ensure all instruments are calibrated and schedule calibration when needed. Communicate with appropriate departments about missing samples or errors. Troubleshoot and suggest solutions to quality or food safety problems. Ensure all training needs of the organization affecting product safety and quality as well as personnel safety are met. Provide recommendations to management in relation to laboratory compliance. Verify daily workload is completed and report any abnormalities to the Lab Manager. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Microbiology Lab Supervisor.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position throughout much of the working day. Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment. Ability to occasionally move about inside the office and food processing facilities. Must be able to work in a high noise area.

Total Rewards:            $20.00 - $25.00 / HOUR

  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
